A Beautiful Life

I have a pillow on my bed that reads “Life is Beautiful”. I bought it as a reminder to appreciate the life I have and also to consider even the most difficult parts beautiful. This morning as I made my bed after a fitful nights sleep I contemplated the saying and wondered aloud if I have indeed found life to be beautiful. I came to this conclusion.

The Night Shade Among Us

This past summer things have been hectic to say the least. Quick trips to spend time with out of state family, closing a business and purging inventory, home repairs, surgeries, moving the oldest daughter home for her last year (clinicals) of school, summer classes and an increase in clients just to name a few things… Continue reading The Night Shade Among Us

A State of Undone

My house has been in a state of undone for well over a week now. A quick trip was made to a neighboring state to attend a graduation and steal time with my son and family. No sooner had we gotten back than we…

A Beautiful Tour

This is one of my favorite pictures – I say that about most of my pictures of Texas. It was taken while traveling down the backroads of west Texas during a tour of colleges for my oldest daughter. The trip consisted of just us girls (me, my oldest and youngest). We three traipsed across Texas… Continue reading A Beautiful Tour

The Light in the Darkness

Ink black sky, sliver of a moon shining bright. Lone star twinkling in the night there in the darkness, tethered to the slip of illumination coming from the crescent shaped moon. Smallness in shape yet hopeful, breaking through the suffocating blackness. A lifeline. A position to take hold of; focus on, steady ones course by.… Continue reading The Light in the Darkness

Somewhere in Between

We are all somewhere in between something. A beginning and the end. New and old, Life and death. Some time ago I found myself in this place of somewhere in between. My heart and my life had went through a series of difficulties, a couple of heart wrenching losses of loved ones, some markedly painful… Continue reading Somewhere in Between

Friendship

Friendship is meant to enrich your life, its meant to build you up and fortify you against the harsh elements of the world. God designed relationship / friendship. He is the author of it all. We are meant to gather together, sharpen each other and lift each other up. Thankfully our friendship has grown sweeter over the years and even though we don’t live close in proximity to each other when we do get together it is like we were never apart.

Radical Love

My husband and I began another small group class on marriage.  This is one of many classes, seminars and breakaways we have done since 2012 when we began our ministry to couples and families.  Our hope in doing this is to give them tools we did not have in order to have a Christ centered… Continue reading Radical Love

Through the Valley of Winter

I came across this piece in the memories timeline I had written and posted to social media over six years ago.  It was written during a time I was attempting to traverse the loss of several precious people in my tribe.  Loneliness, grief, and a loss of joy had taken root in my being.  I… Continue reading Through the Valley of Winter
