Not like the blue jay who dances and preens flapping and squawking.
Screaming, Mine! All Mine! as it drives others away.
Not like the blue jay surly and mean.
Saving the best for itself while begrudging others; even a seed, until it is full.
Not like the blue jay clueless and without care.
Not noticing those huddle beside it in wait; It gorges and flings its meal with abandon.
Not like the blue jay selfish and self-centered.
But more like the brown sparrow lowly and unseen.
Offering space to others not caring if they are red, green or missing feathers.
More like the brown sparrow warm-hearted and inviting.
Chirping out in melody, Come on there’s plenty here for everyone!
More like the brown sparrow somewhat quiet and yet filled with immense love.
Selflessly giving up its prime spot so others may dine.
More like the brown sparrow not notice for its color or song.
Yet sought out by our Heavenly Father like a prized possession and taken care like a queen.
